Of course you can choose any bridal hairstyle for your Paris elopement that you like. As your celebrant in Paris I encourage you to choose a wedding hairstyle that feels completely you, when planning your elopement package in Paris!
However you should also consider the specific circumstances of a Paris elopements when choosing your bridal style. Because you want your beautiful bridal hairdo to last until the very last moment of your Paris elopement.

CHALLENGE: Weather on your Paris elopement day
When you elope in Paris it means that we are usually staying around 3-4 hours outdoors. Weather conditions on your elopement day are nothing we can possibly control. But what you can control is which bridal hairstyle you choose for your Paris elopement. Some wedding hairdos agree more and some less with some weather conditions of outdoor elopements in Paris.
1. WIND challenging your Paris elopement bridal hairstyle
Wind is pretty common in Paris: Sometimes it is only a light breeze, sometimes it gets a little stormier. In any case wind blowing at you challenges any bridal hairstyle – but especially when you wear your hair down.
Having your hair loose means that the wind can carry it in all directions. For instance it will often fly in your own face or even in your partners face. This can be tricky for you Paris elopement photos, because there is nothing your Paris photographer can do if your flying hair is covering your faces.
But there’s more: When you wear your hair down and it is windy, it will look messy very quickly. Of course as your wedding celebrant and elopement planner in Paris I will make sure that your stylist is fixing your hair as good as possible. But even though your hair artists will use lots of hairspray to make it last, it won’t resist the wind forever. Your hair will look messy rather sooner than later.
2. RAIN/ HUMIDITY challenging your Paris elopement bridal hairstyle
In Paris we luckily rarely have constant rain pouring down all day long. But rain showers or high levels of humidity in the air are something we encounter more frequently. Wearing your hair down is not the best hairstyle on a rainy elopement day in Paris.
The following Paris wedding hairdos are not very weather resistant:
- Wavy or curly down-do as your wedding hairstyle in naturally straight hair: The curls or waves will literally wash out quickly with even just a few drops of rain or a high level of humidity in the air.
- Straightened hair down-do as your wedding hairstyle in naturally curly, wavy, kinky, frizzy hair: If your hair is getting in touch with rain and humidity it may go back to natural pretty quickly
1. SOLUTION: Choose a weatherproof bridal hairstyle for your Paris elopement
Do not worry, as your Paris elopement marriage celebrant I of course have some solutions and ideas for you, when you are choosing your bridal hairstyle eloping to Paris.
The most resistant hairstyles for brides eloping in Paris are then ones wearing your hair up, tied together or at least (partly) out of your face:
Bridal Updos
You could choose a classic wedding updo or one of it’s modern variations. In any case any wedding updo is a timeless and weather resistant hairdo for a Paris elopement or vow renewal. They resist really well against wind, rain and humidity:
Bridal pony tails
If you don’t like wedding updos, you could choose to wear your hair tied, for instance in an elegant pony tail. These definitely resist great against wind, and pretty well against humidity. The only risk is that during rainy weather the hair coming out of the pony tail may not keep the shape entirely if this part is curled or straightened:
Half Updos
If you really don’t like updos or pony tails, but prefer to wear your hair down planning your elopement, as your celebrant in Paris I completely understand. In this case you could maybe consider a little compromise and wear your hair half up or with parts fixed back out of your face. These styles resist at least better to wind as they prevent you to have your hair falling too much into and covering your face. However rain and humidity will still damage these hairstyle, undoing the curled, waved or straightened loose parts back into their natural shape.
2. SOLUTION: Have a plan B hairstyle for your elopement in Paris
What you could also do if you are really keen on the idea of wearing your hair down for your Paris elopement, is choosing two different hairstyles: A Plan A hairstyle and a Plan B hairstyle, depending on the weather conditions in Paris on your elopement day.
Your Plan A would be your absolute favorite Paris bridal hairstyle, for instance the down-do you are in love with. Fingers crossed, we will use it if the weather conditions look great and there is no risk of rain and no risk of stronger wind.
But you also have a backup plan in case the weather is not cooperating and the risk of rain or wind is considerable. Your Plan B would be an updo, ponytail or at least a half updo.
IMPORTANT: You need to brief your Paris elopement package planer and/or hairstylist about Plan A and Plan B hairstyle well in advance. Because a bridal updo usually takes longer to create than a down-do. Therefore your choice of hairstyle will influence the entire timeline of your elopement day.
So if your Paris elopement planner or hairstylist don’t know about your bad weather backup plan of having a bridal updo in advance, there might not be enough time to change plans on the day. Or you will be very late for your photoshoot and ceremony, risking that you miss the best light and quiet moments without crowds for your Paris elopement!
